Short update: the official Apple software update does not solve the issue with the Photon X25. I still get a kernel crash...
My next try is reverting the USB-drivers to a prior version and hoping this works.

Update (2007/08/07): Reverting to 10.4.10 USB drivers did not work. Seems like I have to sit and wait until Apple cares to solve this issue or move to my PC laptop.

finally a decent software synth

Bought Massive from Native Instruments. It's a really cool synth with some powerful presets. I'm fiddling around with it while I'm preparing for the laptopbattle end of this year.
As my usb midi keyboard is not working since the last Apple update (they've done something horrible to the usb drivers), I always get a kernel crash. My friend Scott did some research and has encountered several more problems with the latest update (he's got a PowerPC Mac so this is not an Intel-only phenomenon). This is what he came up with (thanks man ;) ):

I'll give it a try on my Mac tonight. Hope this works, the Photon is my audio interface and training for a live act without your controller just sucks :)

Just bought Live 6 and now I'm trying to get used to it. Lucky me there's an automatic ReWire to Reason so I'm able to integrate my tool of choice for the last years quite easily.
I'm working on some tracks right now and I'll post them when they have advanced to something that I can publish.
Also the laptopbattle in Mannheim for this year is in preparation. This time I won't only take part but also help to organize some stuff.

Finally I bought some studio monitors:

So I'm gonna spend the next days remastering all my stuff. My headphones were as bad as my friends said, my tracks sound horrible with the Alesis. No fucking base :D

Weekend in Berlin

Spent the last weekend with Scott in Berlin. Man that city rocks! We went out partying from Saturday 06:00pm 'til Sunday 'round noon. And it's cheap compared to what you would have to pay for such a night / day in Heidelberg. Maybe I should plan on moving there ;)

The battle began around eleven. All the contestants were pretty good and I don't feel bad about not reaching the finale. I'm glad I wasn't one of the judges because the decisions were always close ones.

I'll post some more pictures the next days but I've got so save my battery as I forgot my power supply at the place. Luckily Ingo Koch found it so I'm not completely on the hands of the local apple shop ;)

Right now I'm preparing three songs for the battle: 3mins, 6mins and 12mins. I'm hoping that I'll make it as far as the finale as the best song of my portfolio is the longest. I could press it into the 6mins but then too much of the songs potential would be wastet. All I can do is hope that the first two and my performance are good enough for the crowd and the jury ;)

Maybe I'll post some teaser here to get your feedback...
